Welcome to 2025! As the year begins, most of us have made our resolutions for the next 12 months. One of the most common resolutions includes the desire to be fit, healthy and look good.  For this, it is obviously imperative to consume the right balanced diet complete with vital nutrients, along with proper exercising and timely rest.

Let us encapsulate some easy-to-follow food resolutions that you can adopt to see a fitter version of yourself by the end of the year.

 

Inclusion of more veggies and fruits in your diet

Adding some more seasonal vegetables and fruits to your diet is a promise you must make to yourself. Such a diet is extremely useful for lowering blood pressure, reducing the risk of coronary disease, preventing some varieties of cancer, lowering risk of eye and digestive issues and even having a positive effect on blood sugar. Consuming two varieties of fruits everyday, non-starchy vegetables and green vegetables may even promote weight loss. Not to mention, fulfilling your essential daily requirement of vitamins, minerals and fibre, and keeping your extra food cravings in check.

 

Home-made food is your go-to option

We all love ordering food from outside but if you are doing this regularly, it is high time you changed this habit. After all, the type of oil used, kitchen conditions and even the ingredients used in restaurant food can never match the purity of home-made meals. Whether you are vegetarian or non-vegetarian, the quality of home-cooked food for the benefit of your long-term health is unmatchable!

 

No binge eating at night!

We all have food cravings at unusual hours, don’t we? However, it is important for us to follow the adage: ‘Eat when you are hungry and not when you are bored’. Very often, we tend to gorge on unhealthy snacks like chips, fries and chocolates to satiate our hunger pangs. This junk food does more harm than good to our body. If at all we feel like munching at odd hours, opt for healthier snack options like fruits, fox nuts, almonds, hummus and granola bars.

 

Avoid the intake of excessive sweets and fried food

It is important to follow the tagline used by popular actor Rajkumar Rao while launching the ‘The Eat Right Movement’ in Mumbai a few years back: ‘Aaj se, Thoda kam’. While we all love fried food and sweets, it is best to limit their intake to a bare minimum. That way, we can greatly reduce the risk of contracting potent lifestyle ailments like hypertension, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Needless to say, it will also help you to reduce or maintain your weight and lead a healthier life on the whole!

 

Occasional cheat days are a must

Although being fit should be our motto throughout the year, a cheat day occasionally is absolutely fine! In a way, giving your strict diet regime a much-needed break is actually good for you since it satiates your cravings and motivates you to keep following your routine. One designated day per week as a cheat day is completely acceptable wherein you consume the food of your choice, have loads of fun and then get back to your diet routine with utmost sincerity the following day!
